Plans are afoot for the upcoming CIC – and there are 12 trays of seedlings that need to be potted out. Who wants to join me out at the park one day (soon!). No previous experience necessary – even those who think they lack green thumbs are welcome – the more the merrier!
Also – the flags need to be taken down from the XC course from the Eventer Trial.
Let Kate know if you can come out and help.

We are excited to announce that Sam Griffiths is interested in coming to the nations capital! So we are holding a One Day Eventing Clinic with Sam Griffiths, on Saturday 15th July.

But for those who aren’t familiar with his successful career – below are some highlights:
4th Ind Rio Olympics 2016 and Team Bronze

4th Badminton CCI**** 2011

Click here for the notes and draw. Please make sure that you read them before coming, but we are more than happy to answer any questions. We really want everyone to have a fun day!
If you need to scratch, please let Kate know.
The draw is being finalized and will be available tomorrow.
The competition will start with the pairs cross country at 9:30am.
We encourage fancy dress but still wearing an approved helmet and a XC back protector.

Then the Eventer Trial part of the day will commence at approx 10am, starting with the 105cm class, then 95, 80 and 60.
The showjumping course will need to be altered between each class, so please help us with this so that we can finish the day earlier rather than later – many hands make light work.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
Don’t miss out on joining in on the fun at the upcoming Eventer Trial

Are you looking for a fun filled day of excitement? National Capital Horse Trials has an opportunity for people to have a go at jump judging at our competition on July the 2nd. Bring friends or family and make it a day having fun, watching horses and helping out! It’s easy and we will show you the ropes and enjoy a social get together meeting other volunteers at the end of the day. For more information, contact us via email on canberraode@gmail.com or through our Facebook page @NCHTAcanberra

Just when you thought the calendar was looking a little dreary – we’re going to brighten it up in July with our annual Eventer Trial. Last year the weather gods made it near impossible to run it – so we are determined to hold it this year! This competition is a lot of fun for everyone, with the pairs competition being run starting at 60 cms up to 105 cm and fancy dress is encouraged! Afterwards, the eventer trial proper will begin which is a SJ round, followed straight away by a section of elements testing the handiness of the horse, such a bending poles, jumping over a tarp, and opening a gate into the start box – when you then go out onto the cross country course proper.
Entries will be opening shortly on nominate. Here is a link to the Eventer Trial Competition Info which will give you an idea on how the day is run. Despite it saying 2013 – the rest is correct!
So mark the 2nd July in your diaries….. and don’t forget to mention it to your friends and family – and remember – volunteers are always welcome.
Thank you to everyone who came to out event on the weekend. It seems that almost everyone had a great time, which is what it’s all about.
The results can be found on nominate and by clicking here.

Our two loyal sponsors Horseland Canberra and Funky Brew again supported the event, and were joined by our newest sponsor Barton Estate who kindly provided wine for all the winners of the senior classes! We look forward to continuing support from them all and maybe we will see a wine themed jump out there at our next event?
Our event would not be possible without the following people and the endless hours of work that went in to preparation.
Ben Smith recently won the Equestrian NSW Eventing Volunteer of the year! It was extremely well deserved as he has spent months preparing our unique course, although he didn’t make it rain there were some new changes and additional jumps & combinations throughout the grades which rode nicely. Aly Doak organised everything dressage (stressage?) including the judges and pencillers, setting up and the dreaded pack up – thank you to our judges, pencillers and marshallers (Helen & Lyn), and especially to our handy crew of arena builders and de constructers; Lisa, Kalara, Scott, Rachel, Jackie and Felicity! Lauren & Jane McIntosh organised everything show jumping (how good is our new gear looking?! Thanks Karl from OTT) including the marshallers Kiah, Bec, Hayley & Ali – great job for both days by sending everyone in the right direction, dealing with “but I have multiple rides” and everything else! A special mention to our pole pickers, show jumping judges and course designers/builders. Sarah Hearn did a fantastic job organizing all of our cross country jump judges, starters and finishers – thank you to everyone who volunteered their time on cross country day, it wouldn’t run without you! Anne & Chris McRoberts did a stellar job as cross country marshallers, its so great to have them back! To our cross country control and TD’s – Rachel, Peter J, Ian, Peter H, Merry & Corrine; love your work! The Cartwright family put on 5* service for catering in the marquee and ensured that no one left the event hungry! Kelsey & Jackie Szczepanik organised the goodie bag/day packs so our volunteers remained full & hydrated. The Purcell Family have recently come on board and did a fantastic job – Taj & Shannon were sheet collecting, being a taxi for fallen riders to get their ambulance check and general running around; whilst Lisa was filling in wherever needed, running lunches to cross country volunteers and always offering to be put to work which made our lives much easier! Alex, Hayley, Kiah, Wayne and Derek worked endless hours preparing the grounds, number & flagging all obstacles. Jim and Joe as well as Gemma helped with the dreaded pack up the day after the event. John (Café Fitz) was BBQ extraordinaire and ice bag collector. Last but not least, thank you to our sponsors Imperial Floats, Funky Brew, Horseland Canberra & Barton Estate wines – without your generous sponsorship, our event would not be possible! Tori won her class while helping out, and Katy also took home a ribbon won while juggling the roles of hey can you help with this please? We hope you are looking forward to the eventer trial in July!
